The Little Things..

Since we moved to Arizona we started to miss a few things that we unknowingly took for granted before. Of course we miss our family and friends, but this is about the little things we never knew we would miss!

Anyone who knows us knows that we love movies and spend many weekends at the theater. What was so nice about Megaplex was the rewards program we "joined" a couple years ago which gave you points for every dollar spent. Free movies, free popcorn, and free drinks were ours! The second alluring feature was the assigned seating. Going to a movie opening night was so easy. Just buy tickets and choose seats online and show up 5 minutes before the show starts. That's impossible here. If we want to go to a new movie we have to get to the theater almost 2 hours early to wait in line just to have a chance to get two seats together! And forget reward points. It is a foreign concept in Arizona!

If you want fresh produce and meat Harmons is the place to go. We miss boars head salami and specialty cheeses. Our best option for produce here is safeway, but there's really no comparison!

Fry sauce! Ok I've always known fry sauce is a "Utah" thing, but I've always been able to stick it out on vacations and make my own. This is the longest vacation ever! I get a lot of strange looks from people when I ask for a side of mayo.

Last but not least, Tillamook ice cream. We have found Tillamook cheese, but no ice cream. I know, 1st world problems right?

  1. Actually the Studio Movie Grill does allow you to purchase your tickets online and choose your seats--just not for the Groupon price. If that helps at all. It's still nothing like the Megaplex. :(

    1. Yeah, unfortunately we don't want to drive 30 minutes lione way to go to a movie and their prices are sky high. It's a nice place for special occasions though.

  2. This makes me sad. :( No movies, meat, fry sauce, or ice cream! Seriously, what is wrong with Arizona! I wish you good luck in finding replacements, and just keep ordering that side of mayo...maybe it will catch on. :)

    1. It's basically all the essentials in life, I don't know how people survive here! I'm considering selling fry sauce to fast food restaurants. One taste is all it takes!

  3. There have to be enough Utahns there for the idea to fly.

  4. All I can do is....Bwahahahhaha!! Oh, the little things in life we all love. Just put one step in front of the other and I know you can make it through the hardship! Who knows, you might find something there that Utahn's just haven't figured out yet!

  5. We are in the same boat except we are missing all the parks there were in Henderson, the rec centers where you could try something for a month for a reasonable price instead of having to sign up for a year and paying ridiculous prices for the opportunity to be stuck in something for a year. We also miss the nice kids and people. Amazingly people here are so rude compared to the people we knew in Henderson. Moving is hard and can suck! Hopefully you guys will find some new favorites and enjoy your homemade fry sauce!

    1. Wow, Jami you make my "problems" seem so lazy and.. fat compared to things you miss haha!! Jake and I joked around about that yesterday. It is different everywhere you go and hit and miss with the type of people you end up with! I hope you guys start to meet nicer people!
