Remember My Trivial Problem?

Well, I found a solution to my need for something different...



I'm still getting used to my new "do" but I'm glad I did it!

Jake's Birthday Surprise

Jake's birthday was on the 28th and luckily enough for him, he didn't have to spend it in Michigan. Since he was gone for a few days I was able to plan a fun surprise for him. He had to work that day but had the next day off so I thought we could go on a little camping trip! There was a small catch however, our camping spot was on our balcony..


The tent was a gift for Jake and it was pretty difficult to set up on that balcony, but I managed to get it done after lunch



My plan was to go out for pizza then come home and make smores with the candles as our campfire



Jake was surprised when I told him we would be eating dessert on the balcony and making the smores was pretty fun!



The next morning we decided to go out to breakfast and Jake got something that reminded him of his favorite dish from the Bay Leaf in Salt Lake called the second coming

It was fun to surprise Jake for his birthday, it's a tough thing to do! And it was almost ruined by the sun... I wasn't sure if Jake would notice this so I didn't let him inside when he came home and we had an early dinner


We liked our tent and our camping spot so much that we spent two nights out there! Thanks for having a birthday Jake and for not knowing what you wanted so I could do what I wanted ;)

We Have A Visitor

My mom came to visit for the first time this past week and we tried to pack in as much fun as we could in just a few days. Here's what we did!


I picked her up from the airport Thursday afternoon and we met up with Jake for lunch. Later that night we walked to the nearby red box to rent "Wreck It Ralph"


Our first day we spent the morning at the pool, relaxing under the palm trees


Pedicures were next on the list. We went to see "Admission" that night


Saturday we went shopping in Scottsdale and went to "The Croods"


Sunday morning we took Jake to the airport and decided to spend the last few hours at the pool again


Guess what we found in the water...?


The whole weekend I spent time searching for a new pair of shorts since it's getting quite warm here. I didn't have much luck, and of course Jake comes up with the most obvious idea to use an old pair of jeans and cut them. So after we spent our last hour at the pool my mom helped me cut my jeans into some great shorts!

Trivial Problem..

I'm at a crossroads with something so minor and unimportant that I need professional advice (from my friends and family of course)! I have been growing my hair for a very long time. I'm not a carrier of the "super fast growing hair gene" so little by little I've become very attached to the amount of hair on my head. However, we live in Arizona now.. warm, sunny, never ending heat squelched Arizona; and I can't decide if it's time to pull the plug on my hair and cut it or try to survive the summer in pony tails like a 7 year old girl.

Someone needs to help me or give me a little courage to make this non life threatening decision!

Recent Events

Not much has been going on here, it's mostly just the norm; Jake spends his days working and I spend mine trying to stay as sane as possible! We did have a chance to experience the Scottsdale arts festival which was a lot of fun, and we spent a week in Utah for Josh and Melissa's wedding. Now we're back in Arizona enduring the early heat! thanks to everyone who fit us into their schedule so we could reminisce and congratulations to Josh and Melissa! We hope we can come back again soon.

When we moved to Arizona we left behind family and close friends, and I left behind a job I'd spent 5 years in along with some of the greatest people I know. How great are they you ask? Let me show you..

So Many Firsts

I guess when you're married you get to experience a lot of "firsts". First Christmas, first New Year, first Valentine's day, first Easter, first year together.. so many firsts! Jake and I have known each other almost 7 years now so a lot of these "firsts" are not really first at all. However, it doesn't make them any less special. What's great about finding someone to spend the rest of your life with is knowing how to make the first and second and even seventh special occasion feel like the first.

Last night Jake made me one of my most favorite dinners and we spent our first Valentine's day as a married couple together. What made it so special was not that it was our first, it was that it wasn't ;)
